Mercedes Benz is selling a 2.0T diesel powered 4Runner in India for Rs 2,945 (US$2700).
The seller, who goes by the handle ‘Babak’, told ET that he had the car for around two years before deciding to get it.
“After a year of use, I decided to buy the car, thinking it would be an interesting ride and wanted to try out the car,” he said.
“I decided to get the 2.6T diesel engine for my son’s 3.8T, and the engine was really good, with no noise, no vibration, no leaks.”
This diesel-powered 4Runner is an important car for a couple of reasons.
First, the engine has a range of 200 kilometres and is rated at around 6,000 kilometres (5,300 miles) on a single charge.
Secondly, the 4Runner’s twin turbo V6 turbocharged petrol engine can produce more than 10,000 kilowatts of torque, making it a capable car to ride at night.
The seller also mentioned that the diesel-electric hybrid system is also handy for getting around India’s traffic.
“In case the driver wants to drive at night, the car can also be used for emergency braking, as the engine is rated to stop at up to 120 km/h (75 mph),” he added.
We are told that the engine and the diesel powertrain can be upgraded to a petrol and diesel version with a range upgrade to 100 kilometres and 200 kilometres respectively.
The 4Runner, which has a 0-62-mph (0-124-km) time of 3.3 seconds, has a price tag of Rs 3,800 ($3700).
If you are willing to spend more, you can buy the 2,5T diesel version for Rs 4,000 ($3500).
“For now, I am just looking at this car for its engine, and will keep the seller updated on its performance,” said Rahul Kumar, an electric vehicle enthusiast.
“For me, it is a really nice car and would be a great addition to my collection.”
