
Mazda has confirmed that all the parts for its upcoming SUV are in the right place.
The company has revealed that its first production vehicle, the new MX-5 Miata, will be the first production model of the Mazda6, which has a base price of $44,999.
It will go on sale in the United States in September.
“The MX-6 will be our most advanced SUV ever, with all the power and features of our best-selling model,” Mazda’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Kazuo Hirai, said in a statement.
“The MX6 will feature a new exterior design that combines Mazda’s signature look and feel with modern technology.”
The new MX5 Miura will be a sporty SUV with a range of options and options that expand on the Miata’s base package.
It has a 3.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 310 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.
It’s backed by a 4-speed automatic transmission and is expected to arrive in 2020.
A second generation of the MX-7 Miata will also be coming, with the Miura’s top speed set to go up from 198 mph to 218 mph.
The new MX7 Miura has a 2.0L four-door turbocharged engine that will produce 305 horsepower and 298 pound-foot-of-torque.
The MX-8 will be available in 2019.
The MX7 will be powered by a 2-liter flat-four that produces 325 horsepower and 297 pound-force-ft-lbs of torque, while the MX8 will offer an all-wheel-drive system.
A 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission will also offer all the capability of the current MX-series.
The next-generation MX-9 Miata is expected in 2020, and will be based on the MX6’s engine.
Mazda has also confirmed that the new Miata won’t be a hatchback.
